The use of automated external defibrillators (AED) is essential to increase the chances of survival in case of a cardiac arrythmias such as ventricular fibrillation (VF) and non-perfusing ventricular tachycardia (VT) when used in the first 10 minutes.
AMC1 CAT.IDE.A.220 (b) (4) stipulates that the aircraft operators should carry automated external defibrillator (AED) on board all aircraft equipped with a first-aid kit and required to carry at least one cabin crew.

Approval of the carriage of animal handlers in a class E compartment when required for the carriage of animals. Design change has been installed onto a Boeing 737‐400 aircraft converted to a freighter by Aeronautical Engineers. In order to facilitate the carriage of animal handlers when transporting horses or other animals in a cargo aircraft, this STC activates/terminates all provisioned wiring and introduces seating on removable pallets for up to 19 animal handlers.
