ELT survival installation on A320 family (A318 excluded).
The change consists in installing a TECHTEST LIMITED Emergency Locator Transmitter Survival ELT(S) Series 500-12 in a dedicated cabin overhead bin in the A320 family aircraft.
PMV Engineering improved its EASA STC 10062280 at Rev1 for the installation of a TECHTEST survival ELT on Airbus A320 family aircraft, providing customer with 2 approved locations, one in the aft cabin and now one in the cockpit.
This STC is dealing with the latest EASA requirements for embodiment of non-rechargeable Lithium Batteries, e.g compliance with ETSO C142A associated with a risk assessment at aircraft level in order to substantiate that a thermal runaway of the Lithium battery included in the ELT would not impair the safety of flight. As a reminder, any installation of part or appliance including Lithium Battery is classified by EASA as a Major Change (STC) due to EASA Special Condition.
