The Zonal Drying system keeps the humidity in the crown area at a level where it will reduce the condensation on the fuselage skin inner surface and stop water accumulation in insulation blankets.
By creating differential vapor pressure in the intermediate space on the aircraft the crown area and subsequently the sidewalls will dry out.
The Zonal DryingTM system includes the following equipment’s and components:
Zonal Dryer
Control Panel
Filter Box
Ducting System
Lufthansa Technik warrants that all Services and all Material manufactured by Lufthansa Technik or its Subcontractors shall be free from defects in workmanship and shall in all material aspects comply with the highly sophisticated Lufthansa Technik Quality system.
The Zonal Drying system will be installed to prevent:
Water accumulation in insulation blankets to reduce weight
“Rain in the Plane“
Fungus and bacteria
Electrical failures
Corrosion
The Zonal Dryer is installed in the Fwd RH side triangle area below floor.
The Filter box, installed together with the Zonal Dryer in the FWD RH side triangle area, sharing the same structural attachments.
Two flexible riser ducts, installed behind the RH side wall panels, lead the dry air up to the piccolo ducting system.
The Dry Air Ducting system distributes the dry air in the crown area, installed from FWD to AFT, along the existing air extract duct.
The regeneration air ducting, installed on the FWD RH side triangle area below floor and routed backwards close to the recirculation filter inlet where the regenerated air is disposed to be drawn in to the recirculation system.
The Zonal Drying system will be installed to prevent:
