As the air traffic is continuously growing, there is a steady increasing demand on improving navigation systems and landing efficiency. The Integrated Multi Mode Receiver (IMMR) is a comprehensive and fully digital navigation receiver that integrates Instrument Landing Systems (ILS), Global Position Systems (GPS), GPS Landing System (GLS) and VHF Omnidirectional Radio Range (VOR) functionality.
Lufthansa Technik’s (LHT) STC enables you to replace existing Multi Mode Receivers in order to extend the functionality of your aircraft by a Satellite Based Augmentation System (SBAS) - capable GPS module as well as ILS.
SBAS is a navigation aid that augments the Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) providing a more accurate and reliable navigation service.
The Instrument Landing System (ILS) is a navigational aid and provides position data of the airplane for landing approaches. It is designed to receive and process localizer and glideslope information.
The activation of VOR, GLS and Marker Beacon is not yet a part of the scope of this above listed STC.
The above listed EASA STC has been validated or approved by the following aviation authority agencies:
FAA (ST04443NY, Date of issue: 2020/01/31)
ANAC National Civil Aviation Agency - Brazil (2019S08-16, Date of issue: 2019/06/12)
The IMMR is designed to meet today’s accurate and precise navigation requirements and enables simple functional extensions for the next-generation navigation standards.
According to the ADS-B Out mandate established by the FAA and EASA, aircraft operators need to equip their fleet with serviceable ADS-B Out equipment in order to be still eligible entering the associated airspace (FAA: from January 1, 2020 and EASA: from December 7, 2020 onwards).
To be fully compliant with the FAA ADS-B Out mandate the aircraft needs to be equipped with a SBAS-enabled GPS receiver and transmitting antennas.
LHT’s STC enables you to equip your aircraft with this mandatory navigation function and combines it with the Instrumented Landing System.
Potential for the future (not a part of the STC scope yet):
The iMMR eliminates the need for standalone receivers by combining several functionalities into one receiver. Simple Software extensions implemented in the iMMR can replace standalone receivers, incrementally. Costs, space as well as weight can be reduced more efficiently.
With the iMMR you will be all geared up for the next generation in navigation.
Supports current industry navigation standards
Improves functional growth capability due to software updates
Enabling more efficient navigation capabilities
Enhanced use of optimal flight levels and routes
Closer aircraft spacing in IFR environment
Achieve full compliance with the FAA ADS-B Out mandate
LHT offers you a sophisticated solution that installs three Honeywell Integrated Multi-Mode Receiver (IMMR), replacing the three existing Multi-Mode Receivers. The IMMR’s are installed on the Electronic Equipment Racks in the Main Equipment Center. To change the pin-programming of the Center IMMR, the associated wiring is modified.
