Certification of the Boeing 737-700 as PED tolerant for WiFi transmissions at 2.4 GHz. This fact is published in an AFM Supplement.
Using Portable Electronic Devices transmitting at 2.4GHz during flight. This can for instance be aimed at Crew communication or Bring Your Own Device in-flight entertainment.
Allowing the use of PEDs on board of aircraft is governed by operational regulations, for instance EASA Air Ops CAT.MPA.GEN.140. The application of this STC eliminates the need for the operator to perform a technical assessment as required by those regulations, since the PED tolerance status of the aircraft is known.
The STC results in an AFM Supplement that explicitly states that from a technical perspective the use of WiFi 2.4GHz communication technology is allowed. This eases the process you as an operator have to go through to allow the use PEDs on board of your aircraft.
