You rely on your aircraft and its systems to successfully and safely get you and your passengers to their destination, every time. Your aircraft has served you faithfully. You know its history. You rely on it to get you around the weather and to the destination on time, every time. Do you worry about reliability of your aging equipment? Are you concerned how much longer repair parts are going to be available? Have you heard that the new equipment is smaller and lighter? A few dozen more pounds of payload would be nice. When looking at the bottom line, new equipment must not only work with your current configuration, but the upgrades you are planning for in the future.
Those older AHC-85 and gyros are out of production. Parts to repair these units are in very limited supply, and once they are gone there is no chance to repair the unit. Don't have an Aircraft On Ground (AOG) situation while looking for parts to repair your current AHC-85 or gyro.
The Rockwell Collins AHS-3000A/S is a replacement for AHC-85 (CSDB) and AHC-85E (A429) products. The solid-state construction includes no moving parts and has demonstrated mean time between failure (MTBF) over 45,000 hours. This high MTBF ensures dispatch ability and a lower cost of ownership when compared with gyroscopic based attitude and heading systems. What’s more, the system is designed for operation in rotorcraft, fixed-wing aircraft, and military aircraft. The primary function of the AHS-3000A/S is to provide measurements of the aircraft pitch, roll and heading Euler angles for use by the flight deck displays, flight control system, flight management system and other avionics equipment. In addition, high-quality body rate, Euler rate and linear acceleration outputs are provided for enhanced flight control system performance. The AHS-3000A is designed to work with 6-wire flux detectors. The AHS-3000S is designed to work with Sperry 5-wire flux detectors. Installation is simple and utilizes existing aircraft wiring.
