The UniLink® UL-801 Communications Management Unit (CMU) is the next generation datalink communications system, featuring Future Air Navigation System (FANS) and VHF Data Link (VDL) Mode 2 capabilities, and enables digital high-speed datalink communication between the aircraft flight crew and air traffic control.
The United States has mandated compliance with ADS-B Out no later than January 1st, 2020. Close behind is the mandate for FANS-1/A in the North Atlantic Tracks. EASA is mandating ADS-B Out by June 7th, 2020. This installation will ready your 727-100 or 727-200 to meet these mandates, and be ready to continue flying when they arrive.
UniLink UL-801 supports several functionalities that enhance the efficiency and safety of flight by using satellite and VHF datalink technology to provide a simple communication interface for the flight crew and air traffic controller. Compliant with the standards set forth in FANS 1/A, UL-801 enables Controller-Pilot Data Link Communications (CPDLC), Automatic Dependent Surveillance – Contract (ADS-C) capabilities, departure clearances, flight management system flight plans, and textual/graphical weather reports that allow the operator to make informed decisions on routing that leads to fuel economies and shorter flight times.
