The AML STC, effective for most commercial aircraft types, allows for installation of the 500-32 series survival ELT in the cockpit or cabin.
The STC complies with the latest airworthiness requirements for installation of non-rechargeable lithium batteries per ETSO 142b.
--- STC approvals, EASA, FAA, TCCA, ANAC, HK CAD ---
Per EASA Air Operations (Regulation (EU) No 965/2012) and the FAA 14.CFR part 121, operators are required to equip their airplanes with two ELTs, one of which shall be automatic and the other one can be survival type portable.
The FAA and EASA require the installation of ELTs with non-rechargeable lithium batteries by STC.
The 500-32 series is the smallest certified Survival Emergency Locator Transmitter (ELT) available in the market today. Activating the ELT is easy during an emergency by pressing the activation button or pulling the lanyard. This beacon operates with the advanced Cospas-Sarsat 406 MHz satellite system and is equipped with an embedded GPS for enhanced location accuracy. Additionally, it has 121.5 MHz for further location accuracy and an optional 2-way speech feature that allows communication with the rescue team. User maintenance for the ELT is minimal, consisting only of battery replacement every 7 years and a regular Built-In-Test.
