The IAI 1124A ‘Westwind II’ series aircraft is to be modified with the installation of an Airborne Collision Avoidance System (ACAS II). The system to be installed is a Honeywell CAS-67A Traffic Collision Avoidance System (TCAS II).
TCAS II Installation/Upgrade on IAI 1124A ‘Westwind II’ series aircraft
Benefit from an exiting solution with low NRE
This modification will install an Airborne Collision Avoidance System (ACAS II) on an IAI 1124A ‘Westwind II’ series aircraft. The system to be installed is a Honeywell CAS-67A Traffic Alert and Collision Avoidance System (TCAS II), which will be accomplished in accordance with modification AM/1486.
The CAS-67A TCAS II system monitors airspace around its “own” aircraft by interrogating an “intruder” aircraft’s transponder. The TCAS processor computes the range, differential altitude, bearing and closure rate of the intruder.
It then compares this data to its own position and determines the potential for collision. Audio messages and visual displays of Traffic Advisories (TA’s) and collision Resolution Advisories (RA’s) are produced when required.
