Introduction
CAA safety Notice SN-2024/005 makes awareness of a significant number of reports of third occupant seat shoulder straps being incorrectly routed through the top of the seat backrest instead of through the slot in the headrest. Recommendation is made for a fleet check and continued monitoring by maintenance and flight crews.
Incorrect routing of the shoulder straps will lead to ineffective operation of the restraint system and may result in injury to the occupant during rapid deceleration, heavy landing or turbulence.

Product Description
This modification installs a P/N AP251-0477-001 Guide Assembly in the third occupant seat headrest to ensure correct routing of the restraint system shoulder straps, presenting the shoulder strap connector end to the occupant in the approved configuration. The shoulder straps are routed through the gauged slot in the guide assembly with insufficient gap to allow the shoulder strap connector end to recoil through the headrest.
